The market has been transformed into one that is more spacious, lighter, and cleaner. Visitors can now shop in the market on rainy days as well. The market is undergoing the Namguro Market Modernization Project that was intended to boost the competitiveness of the market compared to large marts. During the first phase of the project, a 355m-long and 17m-high arcade was installed over the market and pedestrian walkway was enlarged to ensure the comfortable passing of firefighting vehicles; the floor of the market also underwent renovation along with new LED security lighting, CCTVs, and broadcasting facility. Additional 55m-long arcade will be installed during the second phase of the project that will be completed by the end of this year. Chilgongju Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cake) Street in the market has been beloved by visitors for a long time. The newly renovated market is expected to further stimulate the revitalization of the tourism in Guro.
